1 Bring a friend Anyone who isn’t already a GKR member — school mates, cousins, neighbours, even mum or dad.

3 You earn a Kooshie Train together and a mystery Kooshie is yours — the reward goes to you, not your friend. It isn’t handed out on the day; your instructor will let you know when it’s ready to collect.

Wahni doesn’t say much, but don’t mistake quiet for scared. Wahni watches, learns and finds courage exactly when it matters. Spotting Wahni is pretty special — because the quietest karateka can sometimes have the biggest heart.

The fine print

Earning your Kooshie

A different friend each time. Each new friend you bring earns you one Kooshie.
The Kooshie is yours, not your friend’s. Your friend trains free — the collectable is your reward for bringing them.
Not handed out on the day. Your instructor will let you know when yours is ready to collect.
Completely random. No guarantee which of the four you’ll receive, and no swaps at the counter.
Your friend can’t be an active GKR member. The program is for bringing someone new to the dojo.
Register before class. Use the form on this page, or the paper form at the dojo.
Available region-wide. All seven Region 17 dojos take part — Wollongong, Albion Park, Dapto, Moss Vale, Mittagong, Bomaderry and Vincentia.

Your details and your privacy

Who can fill this in. You must be your friend’s parent or guardian, or have that parent or guardian’s permission to give us their details. If you don’t have it, use the paper form at the dojo instead so the adult can complete it themselves.
Why we collect them. GKR Karate Region 17 collects these details to register your friend for a trial class, to run the Kooshies program, and — only if the marketing box is ticked — for the marketing described below.
Marketing is optional. Ticking the box is never a condition of your friend training, or of you receiving a Kooshie. Leave it unticked and everything else works exactly the same.
What ticking it allows. That GKR Karate Region 17 may contact the nominated adult by email, SMS, phone and post about classes, events, gradings, offers and news; and may disclose the details to its related businesses and selected marketing partners so those businesses may market similar products and services directly. We do not sell personal information.
Stopping the messages. Consent lasts until you withdraw it. Use the unsubscribe link in any email, reply STOP to any SMS, or call Karen on 0401 132 256. We’ll action it within five business days and pass the request to any partner the details were shared with.
Under-18s. Where the person registered is under 18, all marketing goes to the parent or guardian named on this form — never to the child.
Your rights. You can ask us what we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted, by calling Karen on 0401 132 256. Details are handled under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles; marketing messages are sent in line with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).
